Projects
Here's just a small sampling of the student projects we've helped to happen.
Tour Outline Initiative
In the 10B Foundation's Touring Initiative, for the first iteration, students will collaborate to produce a series of six shows and multiple podcasts and radio shows, featuring both local Pittsburgh and touring DJs over two weeks in December. Each student will apply their academic expertise to various aspects of the tour, from logistics and event management to marketing and finance. This hands-on experience will not only enhance their skills but also contribute to the development of a sustainable, in-house project designed to attract bigger artists as the tour evolves and be a revenue generating item for the foundation. The project aims to create a dynamic and recurring event that grows in scale and reputation with each iteration.
Project KOIL
This initiative engages high school and college students in a competition to creatively and efficiently recycle plastic waste from their communities. Students collect #1 PET plastic and turn it in to local 10B Foundation pickup sites, where it is sent to responsible recycling channels. The students compete for a variety of prizes, parties, and opportunities. Beyond the competition, students are encouraged to innovate and develop profitable solutions using the recycled material. While one potential avenue is turning the plastic into 3D printer filament for schools, the project is open to any student-led ideas that can turn waste into a valuable resource and generate sustainable revenue for participating institutions. This is meant to be ground zero for our R&D Department.
